2009-10 Houston Rockets
With Yao out for the entire season, and McGrady not sure when he is returning to the court the Rockets will look to newly acquired Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier and Louis Scola to help keep the team afloat until McGrady can return. Look for the rockets to try and position themselves for a playoff run if McGrady can get back in time to make any kind of impact. With the acquisition of David Anderson to help shore up Yao’s absence, look for the Rockets to have a minor impact on the Western Conference.
2008-09 Houston Rockets
The 2008/09 Houston Rockets had a great plan coming into the season. With the acquisition of Ron Artest to the Rockets actually looked like a team to beat. With injuries to both Tracey McGrady and later Yao Ming who went down with a hairline fracture in his surgically repaired ankle. While Artest actually carried the team through a 20 plus game winning streak, the Rockets have no such luck this season as Artest bolted for the NBA Champion LA Lakers.
2007-08 Houston Rockets
What is it with Texas and Basketball? The Rockets join the TX party at the top of the division. Is the invite to the party due toYao? His numbers were amazing last season, and continue to improve. He makes a fine duo with Tracy McGrady, and when you add Shane Battier into the mix – well, pretty much all the opposing players get guarded. In spite of the talent in the roster, however, the Rockets failed to make the playoffs yet again; causing head coach Jeff Van Gundy to get sacked. Nevertheless, Rockets ticket buyers can expect Htown to strengthen its power forward positions and stay high up in the division.
